On Wednesday, October 19^th between 11:30 am – 12:30 pm on the main stage of the Exhibition Room, come and listen to Jennifer Savage, President of WebDrive Canada, Head of the Web and Mobile Association of Canada and author of Government’s Role in a Mobile Society, speak about how governments need to evolve in order to remain relevant in this game-changing societal shift.

• Mobile society – what is it and what is driving it?
• Social media and mobility – what does the next-chapter of social media look like?
• Mobile citizens – how to address citizens’ needs in a mobile society
• What does iGovernment look like?

The ideal candidate will have extensive programming knowledge and web development experience along with expertise in front-end integration, testing, and project management. Advanced knowledge of XML, PHP, Drupal, WordPress and social media integration are desired. Experience with HTML5 and mobile platforms aren’t necessary but would be an asset.

Responsibilities

• Participate in requirements gathering and project scoping
• Participate in conceptualization and ideation of projects
• CMS server and site setup, extension management
• Web development and component integration
• Testing, QA and debugging
• Coordinate with IT suppliers and sub-contractors
• Develop system and user documentation
• Troubleshooting and 2nd level support

Qualifications
• University degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
• 5-7 years programming experience
• Strong experience in:
o HTML/XHTML
o CSS
o XML
o MYSQL
o ASP/PHP
o Javascript
o Social media components (Third-party APIs)
o Content management systems (Drupal, Joomla, WordPress)

• Experience with the following is an asset:
o Flash/Flash ActionScript
o Mobile development (iPhone/Android/Blackberry)
o MS SharePoint
o HTML5
• Must have a strong and diverse, verifiable website development portfolio.

Work Habits
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written (bilingualism is an asset but English is a must)
• Must be results-driven, proactive, self-motivated, and a team player
• Must be able to work well under pressure and within defined timelines
• Must be able to work on a number of projects for a number of clients at the same time
• Must be detailed-oriented with an orderly, systematic approach to working
• Must have an interest in keeping current with web and mobile trends and new, innovative technologies

Account Manager (Project Manager)

The Account Manager (Project Manager) oversees the design, development and implementation of websites and social media campaigns. Using a variety of standard tools and methods, the account manager communicates with the client and leads multiple project teams to create websites that exceed customer expectations and speaks to the customer’s target audience. Quality, client satisfaction, efficiency, and completion of deliverables are key to the AM role. Because there are many web design projects under varying stages of development, the AM must use organization, communication and trouble-shooting skills to prioritize multiple assignments and meet project deadlines.

The ideal candidate for the account manager role has a background in managing multiple website design projects simultaneously and extensive experience working directly with clients.  Strong written and spoken English is a must and bilingualism is a plus. Proven superior client service skills with multiple projects are a MUST.

Required Experience:

• 5+ years relevant web project experience
• Degree or diploma in Business, Communication, Marketing, Computer Science or related field
• Exceptional customer service skills
• Exceptional eye for aesthetically pleasing websites
• Experience managing project teams
• Experience setting out and communicating priorities to delivery teams, while managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Excels at delivering projects on-time and within budget, meeting high quality standards and customer expectations
• Must have superior written and spoken English

*Access to transportation is a MUST as the AM will be required to go to Ottawa occasionally.

Feb 22 – TVA Salut bonjour Musée virtuel du Canada

We are honoured to invite all who are interested to this Ministerial event to usher in Black History Month.

The event will celebrate Canada’s deep rooted black history and will feature our 3D virtual museum, called ‘Canadian Black History: An Interactive Experience’. The 3D museum will let users visit a comprehensive and diverse collection of artefacts, videos, audio and 360-degree captures significant to the over 300-years of black history in Canada. Our work is scheduled to be one of the core highlights of the event.

This event will also feature famous baseball player Mr. Ferguson Jenkins, Dr. Leslie Oliver, President of the Black Cultural Society of Nova Scotia, and Mr. Fitzroy Gordon, President of CARN radio station.
