<strong><em>The evolution of social media and the invention of iGovernment. </em></strong><br />
The ubiquitous presence of mobile devices and their ever-increasing functionality is changing the way that people search for information, communicate, and interact. These trends, combined with the evolution of social media, is putting tremendous pressure on businesses and governments alike to adapt.<span id="more-1238"></span>   The impacts are wide-reaching – from communication to outreach, program delivery, and political engagement, governments need to wake up and start realizing how mobile is changing the world.</p>
<p>On Wednesday, October 19<sup>th</sup> between 11:30 am – 12:30 pm on the main stage of the Exhibition Room, come and listen to Jennifer Savage, President of WebDrive Canada, Head of the Web and Mobile Association of Canada and author of Government’s Role in a Mobile Society, speak about how governments need to evolve in order to remain relevant in this game-changing societal shift.</p>
<p>The session will cover:</p>
<ul>
<li>Mobile society – what is it and what is driving it?</li>
<li>Social media and mobility – what does the next-chapter of social media look like?</li>
<li>Mobile citizens – how to address citizens’ needs in a mobile society</li>
<li>What does iGovernment look like?</li>
</ul>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>WebDrive Canada is proud to announce that our latest work, a 3D virtual Black History museum, will be featured by the Honourable Jason Kenney, Federal Minister of Citizenship and Immigration Canada, during the launch of Black History Month on February 1st.</p>
<p>We are honoured to invite all who are interested to this Ministerial event  to usher in Black History Month.</p>
<p>The event will celebrate Canada’s deep rooted black history and will feature our 3D virtual museum, called ‘Canadian Black History: An Interactive Experience’. The 3D museum will let users visit a comprehensive and diverse collection of artefacts, videos, audio and 360-degree captures significant to the over 300-years of black history in Canada.  Our work is scheduled to be one of the core highlights of the event.</p>
<p>This event will also feature famous baseball player Mr. Ferguson Jenkins, Dr. Leslie Oliver, President of the Black Cultural Society of Nova Scotia, and Mr. Fitzroy Gordon, President of CARN radio station. The reception will take place Tuesday, February 1st, 2011 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. If you are interested in attending please RSVP to promotion@cic.gc.ca  or at +1 (613) 946-1277.
